Frequently Asked Questions
What are your qualifications?
I have a BSc (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling from Middlesex University and a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling from The Metanoia Insitute. I am a member of the MBACP (the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and abide by their ethical codes.
What will happen in the first session?
I offer a free thirty minute introductory conversation. It is an opportunity for us to find out a bit about each other and for you to decide if we feel comfortable to work together, and what your desired outcomes or needs may be. You have the chance to tell me a little bit about yourself, what is going on for you, and what brings you to therapy.
How long are sessions?
Sessions last 50 minutes.
What happens after the first session?
If we decide to work together we arrange a time to meet. I recommend choosing a time and day, once a week, which is be your regular space.
How long does therapy take?
I do not believe that therapy always needs to be long term - I feel it is vital to have the time and space to bring your learning and development into your life and to try out new ways of managing difficulties. It is usual to book an initial 6 -8 sessions and then we review our work together. We are guided by your needs and what you want to achieve.
How much do you charge?
Sessions cost £65 online and from £75 face to face. I do have a small number of concessionary slots available dependent on your circumstances. Please feel free to ask about these. I accept payment by bank transfer online and credit or debit cards in the clinic.
What is your cancellation policy?
I request 48 hours notice to cancel sessions, or possibly, to rearrange a session. I reserve the right to charge for missed sessions, as I am unable to fill that space at short notice. If I am unable to attend a session for any reason, I give you as much notice as I can and would not expect payment. Due to my own continued professional development commitments or holidays, I may sometimes need to rearrange sessions. I will do my best to give you at least 2 weeks’ notice.
